Muskoka Lakes Fire stopped the spread of a fire on Pickerel Island today.
Just after 3:00pm firefighters from Station 3 in Bala responded to the blaze along with Marine Units 1 and 5.
A cottage that was over a century old was destroyed, but crews managed to halt the spread to nearby buildings. No one was in the cottage at the time of the fire. The cost of damage is estimated to be about $1.3 million.Â
Fire officials have started an investigation into the cause of the fire.
