Lakeland Power customers report getting scam texts

Lakeland Power is warning its customers about a scam.

The utility says some people have been getting text messages that look like e-transfers.

The texts say it’s a hydro rebate or refund from Lakeland and all you have to do is sign into your online banking account to get your money.

What this actually does is steal your banking information. If you get a text like this delete it immediately without opening the link.

Lakeland Power says it does not do e-transfers nor does it ask for your personal banking information through things like text messages, phone calls, or emails.

If you have any questions you can get in touch with Lakeland Power directly.
