Muskoka’s School Board Trustees decided

The two School Board Trustees representing Muskoka have been decided before election day.

Bruce Reain has been acclaimed to represent Huntsville and Lake of Bays. Steve Binstock will represent Bracebridge.

Reain and Binstock are now responsible for giving policies direction, being accountable to the province, helping create strategic plans, setting student achievement goals, allocating resources, and even holding the director of education to a level of accountability.

School board trustees are responsible for continued conversation between the community and the board. They also communicate issues to the various members of parliament, both federal and provincial.

Both men will have to attend at least three meetings a year in person. As well they will also be required to field any comments, concerns or questions posed to them by the community they represent at the board level.

Reain and Binstock will also be responsible for making sure that the schools in the district are being effective in enacting the policies the board puts in place. Throughout their term they will need to create a multi-year plan for their district that details how the schools will achieve the goals set out by the Trillium Lakelands District School Board.

The school board term begins December 1st of this year and ends November 22nd 2022.
