Muskoka Lakes Fire Department Looking For a Few Good People

The Muskoka Lakes Fire Department is looking for firefighters.

It’s hosting a recruitment information session Thursday night. Muskoka Lakes Fire Chief, Richard Hayes states, “Being a firefighter can be very rewarding, but requires a strong commitment to your community and the Fire Department.” The information session is happening at the Port Carling Fire Station at 7:00pm.

The department says it’ll give people a chance to see the commitment required, the benefits of the fire department, and will answer any questions you may have.

The Muskoka Lakes Fire Department says it focuses on diverse training, public education, physical fitness and mental health programs. The department is on call 24 hours a day, every day, to respond to emergency situations. The Muskoka Lakes Fire Department consists of one Fire Chief, one Deputy Fire Chief, one Fire Prevention Officer, one Administrative Assistant, and up to 155 part-time firefighters. All firefighters are notified of an emergency response through a radio/pager system and cell phone applications.
