The Lake of Bays Heritage Foundation is reminding every resident to vote. Whether you are a full-time resident or a seasonal one, the Foundation suggests that the outcome of the election will impact both of you.
In Lake of Bays, candidates are vying for the position of mayor, Ward Councillor, and District Councillor. The voter kits have been sent out, so if you did not get yours, check with the municipal clerk to ensure that your information is up to date.
The foundation says that the “quasi-judicial” Ontario Municipal Board is being replaced by Local Planning Appeal Tribunal. Meaning that local and district councillors will need to be more “vigilant” to keep within the official plan when bringing proposals forward.
