Barrie man charged after violent robbery in Orillia

Orillia OPP have charged a 22 year old Barrie man after a violent robbery that happened early Sunday morning.  At 4:15am  a 24 year old man was walking through McKinnel Park in Orillia when he was attacked from behind and struck in the back of the head, causing him to fall to the ground. While down, he was kicked in the face and head. One male in particular was encouraging others in a group to assist him while he robbed the victim of his wallet and cell phone. There were several males and one female in the group. One of the males is described as Caucasian, approximately 6 feet tall, 190 lbs., wearing a black t-shirt. He had a tattoo on his left arm. The suspects left the park in a north easterly direction. The victim managed to get himself to the nearby hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Orillia OPP have arrested and charged a 22 year old male with Aggravated Assault and three counts of Failing to Comply with a Probation Order. He was held for a bail hearing and his next court date is in Orillia on Tuesday October 14th.
