More than 29,000 central customers will be without power again tonight

Thousands of Hydro One customers are going to be without power again overnight.

The utility says all available crews are working to get the lights back on as soon possible. However, Friday’s storms, which included winds up to 100 km/h and a reported tornado in the Ottawa region, wreaked havoc on the system.

Hydro One says about 29,540 customers in the central region won’t have their power turned back on tonight.

The following number of customers served by these Op Centres will remain without power overnight:

Minden – 3,000

Bracebridge – 7,200

Orillia – 300

Owen Sound – 20

Parry Sound – 8,000

Huntsville – 11,000

Penetang – 20

The latest estimated restoration time from Hydro One is Tuesday at 4:00pm, but restorations are expected over the course of the next few days. At its peak, Hydro One says this outage affected 392,000 across Ontario, with power having been restored so far to 326,000 customers.  To report an outage you can call Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.
