Muskoka OnStage holding open auditions for “Mamma Mia!”

Get those singing pipes ready and those dancing shoes shined up.

Muskoka OnStage is holding open auditions for its presentation of Mamma Mia! The organization says it’s “calling all triple threat actors.”

There is going to be two days for auditions. The first is happening in Bracebridge on October 13th from 10:00am to 4:00pm at the Rene Caisse Theatre, 100 Clearbrook Trail. The Huntsville auditions are happening the next day at the Algonquin Theatre, 37 Main Street East, from 12:00pm to 5:00pm.

Muskoka OnStage says the auditions will consist of a singing and dance call, as well as a cold read from the script and interview with the director and producers. You’re asked to show up at least 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time.

“This is an incredible opportunity for actors in Muskoka” say co-producers Karen Cassian and Jean Polak. “The musical is a worldwide phenomenon, and after an epic 14-year run on Broadway, creators have released the rights for community theatre productions. This will be one of the first productions seen in Canada!” Mamma Mia! is based on the music of Swedish group ABBA.

To book your audition you can sign up at this website “as soon as possible” says Muskoka OnStage.  The deadline to register is October 8th.

Those who cannot attend the scheduled interview times or have difficulty with the online booking process should email [email protected].   Walk-ins will be accommodated where possible, but they may have to wait while those who have signed up in advance are processed.

Mamma Mia! will run from February 21st to  March 3rd at the Rene Caisse Theatre for seven performances and for another seven at the Algonquin Theatre in Huntsville from March 22nd to the 31st. For more details email [email protected]
