Town Lists Acceptable Items for Cemetery Decoration

The Town of Bracebridge wants to remind residents visiting the town’s cemetery of some of the guidelines regarding memorials for loved ones.

The statement from the town’s works department in part says that “decorations are permitted in the uppermost two feet of the grave space.”

Real or artificial flowers or wreaths are allowed between May 1st and October 15th.

In the winter time that shifts to the same style decoration but only to mark special occasions with a thirty-day limit before it has to be removed.

The notice goes on to identify a number of decorations or additions that are not allowed including things like adding benches, structures of wood and other perishable material, crushed stone and planting of any shrubs.
