A Central Region OPP officer has been charged with a criminal offence. The OPP says this comes as the result of an ongoing investigation into a domestic issue.

The charged officer is not being identified, nor will the OPP be releasing any information about the specifics of the allegations. The OPP says this is to protect the identity of the victim and to prevent any form of re-victimization.

The officer, who holds the rank of constable, was off-duty at the time of the incident in question. Although the officer’s specific detachment has not been identified, the Central Region includes Bracebridge and Huntsville.

The OPP did say that the officer in question has been with the OPP for six years and is still on active duty. The investigation is ongoing.
