Town of Bracebridge Marking Big Brothers Big Sisters Month

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka flag has been raised at the Bracebridge Municipal Office.

Mayor Graydon Smith was joined by Executive Director Rebecca Paul and Mentoring Coordinator Allia Canzio, along with Brianna, a placement student from Georgian College, for the flag-raising yesterday.

“On behalf of Council, I am pleased to raise the Big Brothers Big Sisters Flag of Muskoka to recognize Big Brothers Big Sisters Month,” said Mayor Graydon Smith. “I urge interested individuals to demonstrate their support for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka and our local youth by becoming involved with this important community organization by contacting Big Brothers Big Sisters as soon as possible to pursue available volunteer opportunities.”

Flying the flag is a way to mark Big Brothers Big Sisters month, which is September. With that in mind, the agency is reminding people about the programs it provides. Those include Big Brothers Mentoring, Big Sisters Mentoring, Big Couples Mentoring, In-School Mentoring, and the PRISM Mentoring Program.

The organization says right now there are 30 children on its waiting list and that more volunteers would help solve that issue. If you’re interested in volunteering you can get in touch with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka by phone at 705-644-9914 or by visiting this website.
