Scouts Canada Recruiting Leaders

Scouts Canada is asking for volunteers.

Ahead of an open house in Gravenhurst this week for prospective area scout troops including Beavers, Cubs, and Venturers, there is also a recruiting need for leaders.

This Thursday representatives from the Bracebridge, Gravenhurst and Huntsville scout associations are holding a meet and greet at the Bracebridge Rotary Centre for Kids for parents to see what the organization is about and for kids to see some of the activities offered.

Shawn Forth, the Deputy Area Commissioner for Scouting in Bracebridge says some troops in other communities need adults to step forward and volunteer in order for the program to proceed.

“We always invite more adults who would like to volunteer,” says Forth. “Scouting has been suffering over the last several years, like most volunteer organizations.”
