The medium security unit at Beaver Creek is locked down.
Correctional Service of Canada reports, the lockdown was put in place on Monday afternoon as a precautionary measure to protect both staff and inmates. CSC staff are conducting a search of the prison, however details haven’t been provided on the reason for the search.
The unit will remain in lockdown until CSC feels it’s safe to remove the precaution. Scheduled visits to the medium security unit have been suspended. Anyone with questions about their scheduled visit can contact the institution directly.
