The towns of Bracebridge and Gravenhurst are both planning meet the candidate evenings.

The Municipal election is October 22nd and in the lead up various community groups try and organize evenings that will allow voters to meet and hear from the candidates on a variety of issues.

The Muskoka Lakes and 12 Gravenhurst area lake associations are putting on an All Candidates Meeting this coming Thursday at the Terry Fox Auditorium in the Centennial Centre, Gravenhurst.

It starts at 6:00 p.m. with a chance to meet with the candidates one on one before the official start of the meeting at 6:30.

The questions will be moderated from submissions by the various associations in advance.

Muskoka Lakes Association Director Jim Davis says these type of evenings are important to help voters decide the right fit for a position.

“All candidates meetings are an excellent way to help voters decide which candidates are most aligned with their values and deserving of their vote,” Davis says in a statement released about the event.

The Bracebridge Chamber of Commerce has a meeting organized for Wednesday, September 19th that will introduce the Mayoral Candidates as well as those running for District of Muskoka Council seats.

It’s taking place at the Quality Inn Bracebridge from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

There will also be a night to meet the other council candidates on Thursday, October 4th, again at the Quality Inn from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Organizers are asking people to submit their questions online in advance so they can be curated and allow for more questions.
