MP Clement says Maxime Bernier’s Conservative split won’t affect the party

Tony Clement says Maxime Bernier had plenty of opportunities to make his mark with the Conservatives.

The Parry Sound Muskoka MP says Bernier’s time spent with the Conservative Party of Canada seemed more focused on his personal image instead of the party’s principals.

Clement says Bernier’s decision to leave the party and become an independent member won’t derail their plans moving forward. He says they’ll continue to work towards replacing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau with their leader Andrew Scheer in 2019.

Bernier announced he was quitting the party yesterday, calling the CSC intellectually and morally corrupt.
