MNRF warns of flooding potential and dangerous river flows in Cottage Country

The MNRF is warning Cottage Country residents to be prepared for flooding.

Ministry officials say Parry Sound, Muskoka and Haliburton had rainfall between 60 and 100 mm this week, which has pushed water levels in lakes and rivers higher than normal. As more heavy rain is in the forecast for this weekend and next week, officials say there’s a potential for flooding. Property owners in Parry Sound and the northern parts of Muskoka and Haliburton are advised to be prepared, especially if you’re living or cottaging in a low-lying area.

The high water level could also cause dangerous current conditions in rivers, so swimmers and boaters are warned to be cautious.
