Beaches closed at Lake of Two Rivers due to high E. coli levels once again

The Lake of Two Rivers beaches in Algonquin Park are closed again.

Algonquin Park officials say the beaches were closed again after testing showed 196 E. coli per 100 millilitres of water, which is higher than the provincial safety standard of 100.

The park says staff will be frequently testing and will re-open the beach once it’s safe. Visitors are reminded that exposure to high E. coli counts can result in ear, nose and throat infections, rashes or upset stomach.

This is the third time this summer the beaches have been closed at Lake of Two Rivers, and the second time because of high E. coli counts.
