Hamlet Bridge replacement in Muskoka pushed to fall

The Hamlet Bridge between Gravenhurst and Severn will stay open for now.

Parks Canada says, while work on replacing the swing and stationary bridges was originally expected to start this week, the timeline has been pushed back. This is because the federal organization is just starting to put out tenders to find a contract for the work. The tendering process will close in late September, which means construction won’t start until October.

But, Parks Canada officials say because of the later start, the work could push into next summer, keeping that section of Canning Road closed to traffic.

The MyMuskokaNow Newsroom will keep you updated on this road closure when more details are released.
