Lake of Bays Demonstrating Internet Voting August 17th

The Township of Lake of Bays is taking elections to the bleeding edge of technology for the upcoming Municipal Election.

It will be using telephone and internet voting to engage the voter database and get more participation from registered voters.

It is inviting people to see a demonstration of electronic internet voting and phone voting on Friday, August 17th between 4:00 and 6:00  in the afternoon.

Currently, voting with paper ballots requires a registered voter to attend the ballot station physically, show identification or a voter eligibility card and then conduct the paper vote. This is then tallied electronically.

In the recent provincial election, the balloting technology resulted in a much quicker tabulation. Adding phone and internet voting will dovetail into this method.

You can see this demonstration at the Municipal Office, 1012 Dwight Beach Road, Dwight, ON.
