Fire danger rating in Muskoka at high, fire ban remains in place in Algonquin

Heading into the long weekend you’re reminded that the fire danger rating in Muskoka is still at high.

That means while campfires aren’t banned, the district recommends you avoid having one if possible. If you choose to have a campfire, keep in mind the fire danger is serious and you’re urged to use extreme caution. No daytime burning of any kind is allowed.

Meanwhile, in Algonquin Park, a total fire ban is still in place. That means no open flames at all, including campfires for warmth and cooking, are permitted in the park.

If you’re unsure at all about the fire restrictions in your area give your local fire department a call.
