Rainbow flags flying at each municipality in Muskoka this week

Muskoka’s municipalities are showing their pride this week.

As part of the Muskoka Pride Festival, community officials around the district are flying rainbow flags to recognize the special week and the message behind it. Muskoka Pride representative Shawn Forth says in celebration of 10 years, each flag raising was marked with a special BBQ celebration.

Forth says these flags are an indicator of the support across Muskoka for the LGBTQ community. He says there is a rich culture in this community that shouldn’t just be accepted but also celebrated.

Muskoka Pride will cap off its 10th anniversary celebration on Sunday with a first-ever Pride Parade in Bracebridge followed by the iconic Pride Picnic, being held at Memorial Park this year. You can find more details on these and other events here.
