Watershed Advisory in effect for Muskoka and Parry Sound this weekend

A watershed advisory is in effect for Parry Sound, Muskoka and parts of Haliburton this weekend.  The Ministry of Natural Resources says the advisory is due to water safety as water levels and flows in local lakes and rivers have been higher than what is normally expected or experienced at this time of year due to rainfall amounts received across the region over the last few weeks.  Residents and those visiting the area are advised to be aware of current watershed conditions, regularly check for updated messages, exercise caution while around waterbodies and maintain close supervision of children and pets.  Current weather forecasts are variable but some are calling for up to 60mm of rain possible from October 16th though October 21st for parts of the Muskoka and Parry Sound area with widespread accumulation of at least 30mm likely.  The MNR is monitoring the weather and developing watershed conditions and will issue further statements is necessary.
