Algonquin Park under total fire ban

Highway 60 at the Rock Lake Road in Algonquin Park from the Algonquin Park website

Algonquin Park is under a complete fire ban.

The ban prohibits all open fires in all parts of the park and will be in effect until further notice. That includes fires for cooking and warmth. This brings the park in line with municipalities across the region.

Portable gas, propane, or naptha stoves or barbecues that have a fuel source with a control valve are still allowed, while back country users must have a portable stove with a fuel shut-off valve. Algonquin Park officials say staff will be out enforcing the fire ban.
