District officials are investigating a mechanical issue that caused a bridge in Port Carling to malfunction.
Representative Molly Ross says the district has hired a consultant to review the incident. The bridge was stuck in the up position on Monday, blocking all traffic using Highway 118 for over half an hour. Ross says a newly installed remote control system allowed district officials to quickly resolve the issue.
She says plans are in place to rebuild the lifting mechanisms in the offseason later this year. Â Until then, the district will have a contractor on site every time the bridge is lifted.
