A local firefighter is being recognized for his years of service in Muskoka.
Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Prevention Officer Mike Vadlja has been chosen as the 2018 recipient of the Port Sydney/Utterson Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award. Chamber officials say Vadlja has shown dedication both in his firefighting duties and volunteer work with various community events and fundraisers.
Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement was on hand to help present the award to Vadlja during a ceremony held over the long weekend at Port Sydney Beach. The award has been presented to local residents since 1983.
