Whooping Cough spread confirmed in Powassan
Health officials have discovered a spread of Whooping Cough just north of Huntsville.
The North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit confirmed a few cases of the dangerous sickness in Powassan. Officials say Whooping Cough can be fatal for babies and pregnant women. They’re urging everyone in the area to get vaccinated if you haven’t been already to help prevent the spread.
Whooping Cough can be spread through droplets expelled by an infected person who is coughing or sneezing. Symptoms include coughing, sneezing, a runny nose, fever and vomiting. Coughing can turn severe and force a person to gag or throw up.
