Muskoka Airport governance change discussed at Bracebridge Mayoralty debate

Changing the governance structure at the Muskoka Airport was an issue raised at last night’s Bracebridge Mayoralty debate. Pilots at the airport want to run a new arms length agency to remove the spectre of political interference. Graydon Smith says the airport is a hot button issue, but that he doesn’t support a governance change. Smith says one of the problems has been an unwillingness from some municipalities to invest in the airport to allow for capital expansion. He did agree that the airport is an incredible tool that can be maximized better. Candidate Phil Kolyn said he’s not in a position to voice a proper response at this time but that he plans to learn more about it.
