Toronto anglers fined for breaking fish sanctuary rules in Muskoka

Three Toronto-area men are paying hefty fines for a fishing folly in Muskoka.

Conservation officers discovered the three men fishing from a provincially-protected sanctuary on Lake Joseph in February. Officers discovered the men had caught 12 lake trout and one ling. The men were found guilty by a judge in Bracebridge and fined $1,500 each.

MNRF officials say sanctuaries like these are necessary to maintain fish sustainability in the province.
