Muskoka fire risk moves up to “high”

The Fire Danger Rating for Muskoka has gone up. As of today it sits at “high”.

Although small fires are still permitted in most rural areas, the Muskoka Association of Fire Chiefs says you need to be extremely cautious with all open flames. On top of that no daytime burning is allowed at all. You have to be with your fire at all times and have the proper gear and water on hand to put it out if need be.

Officials are keeping an eye on things, and with warmer, drier weather in the forecast the fire danger could go up again soon. Updates will be provided if conditions change. You can call 1-877-847-1577 for the latest Fire Danger Rating before any outdoor burning. The Muskoka fire season runs from April 1st to October 31st every year.
