Bad ice fishing practices land Muskoka man with hefty fine

A Georgian Bay Township man is facing a stiff fine for illegal ice fishing.

The man was handed a $3,700 fine by an Ontario judge for setting up too many ice fishing lines and catching Muskie out of season. In February, Conservation Officers found an empty ice hut set up in Severn Sound with 12 lines set up nearby. They also discovered the Muskie buried in a nearby snow pile. Only two lines can be set up when ice fishing, within 60 metres of each other.

The fishing lines and the Muskie were taken by the officers.
