Huntsville Mayor says hospital site recommendation likely coming in July

A recommendation on the future of healthcare in Muskoka is expected to come soon.

Mayor Scott Aitchison told Huntsville council earlier this week the Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare board will likely be hearing the recommendation on hospital sites by the end of July. MAHC had tasked the Capital Plan Development Task Force with reviewing options including keeping the status quo two hospital sites or moving healthcare services into one.

Aitchison said if one site is selected or a hospital site is moved, Port Sydney likely won’t be considered as a location. He said it was rated quite low as a possibility by the task force during the last meeting.
