Bala Falls concerns raised with Canada's Prime Minister

Wahta First Nation Chief Philip Franks has once again brought his Bala Falls concerns to the attention of the Prime Minister of Canada and Ontario’s Premier. In a letter to both Kathleen Wynne and Stephen Harper, Franks slams the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) for failing to consult with the First Nation as updates on the Bala Falls issue took place. He also says he never got a call from Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement, who had told the Moose that he had called the First Nation about their Duty to Consult concerns. Franks writes that upon learning about Clement’s comments in a Moose FM article, he placed a call to Clement which has so far gone unreturned. Franks tells the Premier and the PM that Shawanaga First Nation also shares Wahta’s concerns re: the controversial Bala Falls hydro project. He says Wahta continues to look forward to contact from both the Provincial and Federal governments about their concerns.
