Turtle Walk in Bracebridge could be canceled due to lack of registration

A charity walk for turtles in Bracebridge may not go ahead. The Land Between charity and the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre is hoping to have its first annual Turtle Walk in the community on June 2nd. Land Between Chief Operating Officer Leora Berman says 40 participants  are needed for the event or the walk will be canceled.

The Land Between looks after turtles between the Ottawa Valley and Georgian Bay regions. According to Chief Operating Officer Leora Berman, a third of Ontario’s population reside in the territory. Berman did not have a specific number on how many turtles were killed on our roads last year but a state of emergency was declared in 2017.

The walks are to educate people on the turtle population, as well as raise funds for the Turtle Trauma Centre.  Click here to register.
