District officials press pause on Santa’s Village Road reconstruction plan

The Santa’s Village Road reconstruction project is officially on hold.

The District of Muskoka explains the pause comes after it was discovered a number of trees along the route would need to be removed in order to construct the road model that was preferred by local stakeholders.

District officials are going back to the drawing board to figure out a new model that won’t affect the natural landscape as much. This means all work will be halted, including tree removal plans. The district will be contacting homeowners to review new model options in the coming months.

The decision to update the stretch of road in Bracebridge came after years locals expressing concern with dangers of the current narrow and winding drive.

Plans to install a sanitary water line for Santa’s Village Theme Park will move forward. The district says homeowners will not be expected or able to hook up to the private line.
