Fire prevention officer warns fireworks enthusiasts to be extra cautious in Muskoka

If you’re planning on setting off fireworks this weekend, fire officials are asking you to be cautious.

The fire danger rating in Muskoka is set to high due to the very dry conditions across the district. Fire Prevention Officer Mike Peake says that means you’ll need to be careful where you set off fireworks.

Peake says fire crews have already responded to a few grass fire calls likely started by cigarette butts being thrown out of car windows.

He says the most important thing to remember is to have a bucket of water nearby for any type of celebration that involves fire.
