Early MTO contract with Fowler

Fowler Construction will be taking over from Carillion for highway maintenance in the Muskoka area more than three months earlier than originally planned.  The Ministry of Transportation says the new contract with Fowler will start on May 26th, instead of September 1st.

MTO Senior Media Relations Officer, Bob Nichols says in an email, “MTO, Carillion, and Fowler all agreed that it would be best interests of all, including the traveling public, for Fowler to start earlier… This date follows the end of winter operations and planned completion of the spring clean-up work such as sweeping that is being completed by Carillion.”

Fowler President Moreen Miller, says nothing has changed in the contract.

Miller says there will also be additional contracts on MTO highways in the area that are separate from the maintenance contract.
