A local woman camps out on "Turtle Island" to save the Bala Falls

A Huntsville resident has set up camp on a little island in Bala to protest the proposed Bala Falls Hydro Project. Peggy Peterson has been there for over two weeks. She says this is the wrong project to be doing in downtown Bala…

The protest is against a potential Swift River hydro plant at Bala Falls and the current portage ban at the site. Peterson has not only set up camp – she says she has a few simple goals….

Peterson says she’s received a lot of support for local first nations groups and community members. She also says people are going to be coming together to set up a trust fund for the island.
