MNRF fines North York man for over-fishing trout in Lake Joe

A North York man is on the hook for $1,500 after fishing too many trout in Lake Joseph.

The fisher was fined by the province after he was caught with six trout while ice fishing on the area lake in April. He ended up with no fish as the catch and all his fishing equipment was confiscated by the conservation officer that caught him. He pleaded guilty to the charge in court.

Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry officials are reminding fishers, the regulations are in place to protect sustainable fish populations in the lakes.
