Vacant commercial properties in Muskoka can now be taxed fully

If you have an empty commercial building in Muskoka you’ll be paying for it.

The district is removing a 30 per cent property tax break for owners of vacant commercial buildings after getting authorization from the province. This comes after district officials found many municipalities saw no benefit from offering the tax break to property owners.

Officials say the tax break didn’t motivate property owners to find new tenants for their vacant commercial properties either.
