At 1:55 on Monday afternoon, the first ever test of the new Alert Ready System will be heard on mobile phones. West Parry Sound Fire Co-ordinator Brian Leduc says this is a new step in reaching the most people with an alert.
The test of the new Alert Ready system is part of emergency preparedness week which runs from Sunday, May 6th to Saturday, May 12th. Leduc says families should have a discussion and plan ahead should an emergency occur.
Leduc also recommends preparing an emergency kit. The Emergency Management Ontario Website has more information on how to plan ahead and to check if your phone is compatible to receive emergency alerts.
