MAHC Board Chair calls Huntsville council motion disappointing and unfortunate

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare’s Board Chair is disappointed in a recent move by Huntsville council.

Evelyn Brown says it’s unfortunate council voted to ask the Minister of Health to dismiss the members of the MAHC board of directors. She says the board is made up of volunteers who have committed to working with local officials to find the best solutions to the healthcare problems in Muskoka. Brown says the board will remain committed to ensuring a fair and objective future planning process through the Capital Plan Development Task Force and stakeholder engagement.

The majority of Huntsville councillors voted in favour of the motion on April 23rd, citing trust issues with the MAHC board as planning is underway to decide on the future of the two hospital sites in Muskoka.
