MNRF says be prepared for flooding and stay off remaining ice

The weekend storm is likely to cause some dangerous conditions on Muskoka’s lakes and rivers.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is warning Muskoka could see up to 75 mm of precipitation including rain, freezing rain, ice pellets and snow from the storm. This will boost water levels and with warmer temperatures expected in Muskoka next week, levels will continue to push higher. MNRF Officials say flooding is not expected, but residents in flood-prone areas should still be prepared.

Riverbanks will likely be slippery and dangerous and officials are warning everyone to stay off any remaining ice.
