With spring on its way, residents should make sure they aren’t attracting any bears coming out of hibernation.

OPP Constable Catherine Yarmel says there are some measures you can take to avoid attracting bears to your property.

Yarmel says if a bear is acting aggressive or causing damage, call the police.

If you see a bear in a tree or roaming around checking garbage cans and you aren’t in danger, you’re encouraged to report it to the toll-free Bear Wiseline at 1-877-514-2327.
