Huntsville Hospital and South Memorial Hospital are not closing

Despite what rumours may say, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare says they have not purchased land for a new hospital. Last week, The Moose received calls from listeners indicating MAHC bought about 40 acres of land in Port Sydney to build a centralized hospital and plans to closes the buildings in Huntsville and Bracebridge.

Acting CEO Tim Smith released this statement in an email:

“Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare is completing planning work that is considering potential options for how to deliver hospital services in the future. One of these options is a single hospital for all of Muskoka. MAHC has not identified, selected or purchased any parcels of land in Muskoka for any purpose including a potential new hospital. No decision has been made regarding a preferred model for the future. These models are being presented for consideration and feedback.”
