Messy mix of freezing rain and snow likely; driving conditions expected to be bad

A big winter storm is expected to roll through Muskoka tomorrow.

Environment Canada is warning we could see a mix of snow and freezing rain in the area as the storm makes its way up from Colorado. Meteorologist Mark Schuster says depending on where you are in Muskoka you could see freezing rain or snow.

Schuster says up to three millimetres of freezing rain could fall before it switches to snow. The Huntsville area may be spared from the freezing rain, but Shuster says there may be significant snowfall with up to 25 cm possible. The storm is expected to taper off by Wednesday afternoon.

Schuster says drivers should consider thinking twice before hitting the road during this storm.

He says visibility is likely to be significantly cut down on Wednesday as the wind picks up and causes blowing snow across most roads.
