A new visitor survey in Gravenhurst aims to gain a greater sense of area tourism

Plan a trip to Gravenhurst and you could win a grand prize getaway.

According to the town’s Economic Development team, a new survey for visitors will not only allow them to share the experience that they had in Gravenhurst, but it will also offer a chance for them to win an all-expense getaway.

Organizers of the contest say this will be a good way to collect visitor demographics and trends and with that information, promote Gravenhurst as a year-round destination. Economic Development Coordinator Julia Crowder says the first step in developing future initiatives is understanding who visitors are, where they come from, and why they visit.

Economic development coordinator Julia Crowder says currently there is isn’t enough data about tourists that come to the area and that this will be a way to find out. She says she is interested to know when people are coming to the area and what they do during their stay.

According to organizers of the contest, rack cards with a link to an online survey will be distributed to local accommodations, attractions and retail vendors who have expressed their interest in participating in the program.

Crowder says the program will gauge interest and participation from both tourism stakeholders and visitors themselves.

Visitors that share their experience will have a chance to win 1 of 4 getaway prize packages valued between $300-$400. The prize packages include accommodations, tickets to local attractions or venues, and gift certificates.
