Gravenhurst man okay after being pulled from a building partly filled with smoke

A Gravenhurst man is okay after a close call. Firefighters pulled the unconscious man out of a building after responding to anĀ automatic alarm activation just before two on Friday morning. Crews were at the industrial building and found a haze of smoke in part of it, and saw the man in another section through a window. The firefighters forced their way in and got the man into the fresh air. Paramedics then took him to the hospital, but he has since been released.Ā

The fire crews found a pot on the stove left on a burner which was where the smoke was coming from. Fire Chief Larry Brassard says early detection was pivotal in the outcome of this story. He says cooking-related fires are the number one cause of fires in Ontario.
