The Community Grant Awards went underway on March 13th which officials say help provide financial assistance to non-profit, community-based organizations. Companies that provide direct programs, services, or activities that enhance the quality of life for residents in cottage country were the main focus of the award ceremony. Officials are saying the Community Grant Awards concentrates on companies that revolve around social services, health, arts, heritage, recreation, and the environment.

Deputy Mayor, Jean-Ann Baranik presented the grants to ten different community groups who were invited to the morning presentation.

The 2018 recipients were Safe Quiet Lakes, Hospice Muskoka, Port Carling Royal Canadian Legion, Muskoka Lakes Pickleball, Big Brothers Big Sisters Muskoka, Windermere Fun Day, Wishes in Windermere, Milford Bay Community Garden Group, Walker’s Point Archive and Heritage Committee, and the Port Carling Curling Club.
