Free talk about depression and suicide prevention happening tonight at Bracebridge Public Library

Tonight a special speaker will be at the Bracebridge Public Library to discuss depression and suicide prevention. It’s in advance of World Suicide Prevention Day, which is this Wednesday. Author and local cottager Lynn Keane will give her talk at 8pm and admission is free. Keane lost her son Daniel to suicide. She says the world was recently focused on suicide as a result of Robin Williams’ death and those with first-hand experience of suicide have an opportunity to lead the conversation and raise awareness for its prevention. Survivors of suicide are using social media to #raiseHOPE in the lead up to Wednesday. Friends and families are taking to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to honour lost loved ones and to raise awareness for suicide prevention.
