Parking disruptions at the Huntsville hospital this week

Hospital parking in Huntsville is going to be affected this week. The Huntsville Hospital Foundation’s new office is a bunkie-style building, and it’s being moved to the hospital this week. It will be delivered on Thursday from Green Terra homes in Trenton, and will stay in the hospital parking lot until Tuesday, March 13th when it will be craned onto its platform overlooking the Garden of Honour. The garden is just beside the hospital and a new entrance will be created to allow better access.

The bunkie will be in the middle parking lot just beside Frank Miller Drive, which is where drivers may see some parking disruptions. However, the upper parking lot will remain open, which includes the accessible parking and patient drop-off.

The foundation announced in November it would be moving closer to the hospital. Executive Director Katherine Craine says the foundation’s focus is to build the capacity of the hospital, and part of that means being closely connected to the hospital, its health care team, and its patients. The foundation pays for technology and equipment for the hospital not covered by the province through community donations, as has an annual fundraising goal of $3 million.
